Team Alberta Training Centre a Success
The GO Centre has been the site of the Team Alberta Training Centre for the past two weeks. Approximately 110 athletes (16U Female & 16U/17U Male) were selected to attend the 2011 Team Alberta Training Camp in Edmonton where they were exposed to elite training between July 2-13. Athletes were involved in on-court volleyball sessions, strength training, sport psychology, and exposure to other disciplines (yoga, swimming).
Thank you to all of the Guest Coaches, Drill coaches, and Team Alberta Coaches for making the Team Alberta Training Centre so successful. The coaches included: Kerry MacDonald, Laurie Eisler, Bruce Edwards, Ken Briggs, Jessie Knight, Matt Clegg, Austin Dyer, Dustin McCubbing, Art O'Dwyer, Jon Goldie, Melissa Laluk, Mike Lauzon, Landon Thompson, Ernie Tsu, Jeff Smith, Rob Meckling, Ian McIntyre, Lia Stang, Joel Mrak, Shamus Dowler, John Slauenwhite, Mel Masson, Ali Sandholm, Valerie Caldwell, Richard Lobb, Jace Barros, and Josh Hebb.
The Training Centre wrapped up with a tournament July 14-16- the Team Alberta Cup. All athletes were divided into teams to play in this competitive event. The North West Territories 17U girl's team also participated in the tournament. Congratulations to following award winners in the Alberta Cup.
