The Arctic Winter Games are a celebration of athletic competition, culture, friendship and cooperation between northern contingents. Athletic competition features sports that enjoy worldwide popularity alongside traditional Arctic Sports and Dene Games. A significant cultural component featuring visual arts, dance, ceremonies and galas with participants from across the circumpolar region is a pillar of the Games.

Alberta Volleyball will be represented at the Games by one 20U (born in 1992 or later) men's team.  Ten athletes will be selected to this team and in order to be eligible, athletes must not be considered elite as per the definitions below.

The following athletes are considered elite and therefore ineligible to compete.
• Members of the Canadian National Junior Volleyball Team,
• Any athlete that has competed for any nation in the World Championships,
• Any athlete that has ever held a senior card as defined by Sport Canada
