Team Alberta Coaches

Coach Selection:

The Technical Director and Selection Committee are responsible for the identification, recruitment and selection of program coaches (The Selection Committee consists of the Alberta Volleyball Association (AVA) Technical Director, 1 AVA board member and 2 members of the AVA).

Coach Selection Criteria:

Coaches selected to the Provincial Team coaching staff will have demonstrated the following abilities and attitudes:

NCCP certification will be a requirement.
Selection will depend on the person’s ability to motivate and communicate with athletes and fellow coaches.
Technical knowledge, coaching skills, practice planning and the ability to create and carry out short and long term plans.
Availability to commit time for training, competition and administrative abilities.
The ability to develop excellence among top volleyball athletes in Alberta.
A commitment to developing their coaching skills and assisting in the promotion of the Provincial Team programs.
A commitment to upgrading their coaching skills, knowledge and experience in volleyball and general coaching theory.
A commitment to work with and assist all of the coaches, volunteers, parents and athletes involved in the program.
To ensure that the Alberta Volleyball Provincial Team Program is held to the highest standard and to ensure there are no conflicts of interest, Provincial Team Head Coaches will not be allowed to coach their child on the Provincial Team. Coaches with children in the program may be asked to coach another team or Assistant Coach the team their child competes on. The Provincial Team Selection Committee will choose the most qualified coaches based on the prearranged selection criteria.
