Provincial Team Overview:

General Structure:

Alberta Volleyball's focus for 16U (born 1997 or later) and 18U (born 1995 or later) beach volleyball athletes is to provide an opportunity to train in a challenging, developmental environment and receive education on what it takes to prepare, train and perform at a high level. For this group, there is an emphasis on understanding the game of beach volleyball and to stabilize and refine those specific skills and tactics.

For 2013, a maximum of twelve 16U athletes (6/gender) and twelve 18U athletes (6/gender) will be identified and invited to the Team Alberta Training Group. Athletes will be identified through their participation in the first two AVA beach tournaments and the High Performance ID Camps. Interested athletes must participate in at least one ID camp and one of the first two beach tournaments to be considered for Team Alberta. The athletes will train as a group in a competitive and challenging environment and will be exposed to quality beach volleyball training.

Two 16U and 18U teams in each gender will be selected to the Team Alberta Competition Group and will continue to train in August before representing Alberta at the National Championship.
