Team Alberta Beach

Program Goals:

To produce excellence among the top age class athletes in the province of Alberta.
To develop the athlete’s technical, tactical, physical and psychological skills by exposing selected athletes to enriched levels of training and competition.
To provided opportunities for personal and leadership development.
Success at the Provincial Championships, Western Canada Summer Games, Canada Summer Games, National Championships; as well as the long-term preparation of athletes for participation and success at National Team levels.

The Provincial Team Program will also assist in the development of competitive volleyball in Alberta by working in conjunction with players, coaches and v olunteers associated with Alberta’s other volleyball delivery programs.

Provincial Team Overview:

General Structure:

For 2010, Alberta Volleyball will select two 16U male teams and two 16U female teams to train as part of Team Alberta Beach and compete at the Alberta Volleyball Provincial Championships as Team Alberta. Athletes will be selected based on their finishes from the first three AVA Youth Beach Tournaments; selections will be at the discretion of coaching staff, Technical Director and Beach Coordinators.

Training and Competition:

The focus of the Team Alberta Beach program for this year is to expose athletes to a higher level of coaching and training on the beach, with the intention that if they continue with the sport, there will be more competition opportunities in the future.
