Solid Showing for Team Alberta Indoor
The Team Alberta Indoor program concluded their summer of training in July with their respective competitions throughout the country. The 19U men's team competed at the NTCC's in Toronto where they finished 2nd to Manitoba. The 18U women's team attended NTCC's in Winnipeg, coming home with a fourth place finish. Both of these teams spent a week in their respective cities, training with National Team staff in each training centre. The men's competition was also a tryout for National Junior Team and 5 Alberta athletes were selected to Team Canada. The list of names can be found below.
The 16U and 17U teams competed at the Western Elite Championships in Calgary, AB. In the girl's division, the 16U Team AB Blue defended their title from 2009, beating Manitoba in 5 sets to claim the gold. Team Alberta White finished in fifth place. On the men's side, the 17U Team Alberta White finished 2nd to Manitoba, while the 16U Team Alberta Blue finished in 7th place.
