Provincial Team Identification & Tryouts

Identification Process

Any athlete interested in the Alberta Provincial Team Program will have the opportunity to be selected and invited to the final tryout camp.

The AVA provincial team programs have been extremely successful in the past.  Our goal is to provide all athletes an opportunity to be given a fair evaluation to attend the final selection camp.  All athletes selected to the provincial team must be able to fully commit to the period of training and competition for the program.  There are two ways a player can be selected to attend the final tryout camps.

1. The Team Alberta coaching staffs will attend many of the AVA Premier tournaments in 2010. They will talk with club coaches (not athletes) at tournaments to discuss players identified.  Athletes who have been identified will be encouraged to attend the Provincial Team final selection camp.

2. Athletes can also attend one of the AVA High Performance Camps in 2010.  These camps are open to any athlete meeting the age requirements, dates and locations to be announced.  

To compete in the 16U Provincial Team, one must have been born in 1994 or later.
To compete in the 17U Men's Provincial Team, one must have been born in 1993 or later.
To compete in the 18U Women's Provincial Team, one must have been born in 1992 or later.
To compete in the 19U Men's Provincial Team, one must have been born in 1991 or later.

16U Girls          July 3-6, 2010               SAIT (Calgary)
16U Boys          July 3-6, 2010               SAIT (Calgary)
17U Boys          July 3-6, 2010               SAIT (Calgary)

18U Girls          May 1-2, 2010               Volleydome (Calgary)
19U Boys          May 1-2, 2010               Volleydome (Calgary)

The Team Alberta Selection Camps are by invite only.  Athletes will be identified during their respective club season by Team AB coaches and staff and will receive an invitation letter with more details on the Selection Camp.
