The focus of this program is to prepare athletes for competition and continue to provide them with the training and experience needed to continue to pursue the sport at the post-secondary, national and international levels.

Athletes will have the opportunity to be identified and invited to the Selection Camp through their participation in the AVA Premier Tournaments and High Performance Camps. There are a variety of conflicts that occur with this age group, including National Team tryouts, high school graduations and other academic commitments. In order to provide as many athletes as possible the opportunity to make Team AB, the following Selection Camp schedule has been designed:

2013 High Performance Camp:
High Performance Camp            March 23-24, 2013           Leduc
Required minimum number of athletes: 12 per gender

2013 Selection Camps:
Selection Camp #1                   May 4, 2013                     Edmonton
Selection Camp #2                   May 18-19, 2013             Calgary

The Team Alberta Athlete Selection Committee will be present at both selection camps. Team selection will occur following the completion of the second selection camp and athletes from both camps will be considered. Any athlete not in attendance at Selection camp #2 will be notified of their selection status by the head coach.

Twelve athletes will be selected to the program and will train for the month of July before representing Alberta at the National Team Challenge Cup. The NTCC tournament is a training and competition based event in which the top athletes from each province have the opportunity to train and compete with each other, under the guidance of National Team coaches and staff.
